Using The Hot Water Heater In A Coachmen Apex

The 215RBK is my first trailer with a water heater that uses both gas and electric. Its a great feature and it was on my must have. However, once I got the trailer, using it wasn’t as easy as I thought. The instructions are as clear as mud! I read a lot of facebook posts and I wasn’t the only one confused so I put together this table to remind me of what to do when:
Suburban SW6DE In Apex 215RDS Outside Switch Inside Switch* Propane Tank Valve Shore Power
Home, Plugged In, Between Trips, No Hot Water Off Off Off Connected (to charge battery)
Dry Camping, Propane Only Off On On Disconnected
Camping When Shore Power Is Available, Save On Propane On Off On Connected
Camping When Shore Power Is Available, But Want Maximum Hot Water On On On Connected
Home, In Long Term Storage Off Off Off Disconnected (with batteries removed and indoors on tenders)
*If interior light comes on, propane heating has failed

I had this checked by someone at Coachmen so I’m pretty sure it’s right! Please double check that your system matches mine before using this.
